[www.inewsguyana.com] – According to police at about 05:15hrs on Wednesday (January 8) 63 – year – old Dularie Rajkumar of South Haslington, East Coast Demerara, was in her home when three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, entered through an open door.
The men held up Rajkumar and began assaulting her while demanding cash and jewellery. Rajkumar’s son Deonauth Rajkumar who is a licensed firearm holder, was reportedly alerted and came downstairs to his mother’s assistance.
The armed man discharged a round at the younger Rajkumar who returned fire hitting the man to his right hand.
The three perpetrators escaped out of the house and ran into another building some distance away where they were subsequently arrested by the police.
Investigations are in progress.
