At about 20:00h last night Sunday September 08, the Police responded to a report of threats made on another man by Krishna Persaud, 45 years, of Sophia Front, East Coast Demerara, involving the use of a knife.
According to the police, during efforts to arrest Krishna Persaud, he attacked the ranks with a cutlass resulting in injuries to Corporal 18908 Ramdat to his left hand and Constable 20537 Adams to his right index finger.
As a result, the police had to resort to the use of force and Krishna Persaud was fatally shot. Investigations are in progress.
