Police are investigating an alleged Robbery Under Arms which occurred on Sunday September 20, 2026 about 03:00hrs at Sheet Anchor Village, East Canje, Berbice, during which a 32-year-old chef was robbed of cash and several cellular phones with a total value of GY$708,000.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was asleep at his residence with his two young children when he was confronted by two men, who were reportedly armed.
The suspects allegedly assaulted the victim and threatened him and his children while demanding money. They subsequently searched the residence and relieved the victim of GY$375,000 in cash and five cellular phones valued at a total of GY$333,000.
The suspects subsequently made good their escape.
The victim was later escorted to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was examined and treated before being sent away.
Several persons were questioned and CCTV cameras were observed in the area and will be reviewed.
No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing
