Police are investigating the alleged Murder committed on Shawn Lovell, a 57-year-old security guard employed at Atlas Security Service and who resided at 96 Campbellville Housing Scheme. The alleged murder occurred at about 19:00 hrs yesterday (2025-8-30) in the vicinity of the Guyana National Museum on North Road, Georgetown.
Police have since arrested the suspect, 38-year-old Junior Anthony Lindore, a security guard employed at Atlas Security Service.
Investigations so far revealed that Atlas Security Service is hired to provide security at the Guyana National Museum. At 17:40 hrs yesterday, the suspect went to the Guyana National Museum, where he took over duty from the victim, after which the victim left. About 19:00 hrs, the victim went back to the Guard Hut at the Museum, and he accused the suspect of stealing his cellphone. As a result, a heated argument ensued between them, during which the suspect took two knives from his haversack. A scuffled ensued between the suspect and the victim, and the suspect took one of the knife and dealt the victim two stab wounds to his back, one stab wound to his right shoulder and four stab wounds to his right hand with the said knife, the victim ran out from the guard hut and fell down in a nearby concrete drain, east of the museum motionless.
The EMT was summoned and the victim was pronounced dead by Dr. Kellman from the GPHC. Three knives and one cutlass were found in the guard hut.
The scene was processed by a team from the Crime Scene Unit, CID headquarters.
Several persons were questioned. The suspect was contacted at the scene, where he was told of the allegation, arrested and cautioned. He subsequently confessed to the crime and a video/audio interview was conducted with him.
The body was escorted to the Memorial Garden Funeral Home, awaiting a PME.
