Security guard held at gunpoint as bandits steal cash from Woolford Avenue religious organisation

Police are investigating an alleged Robbery Under Arms which occurred on Tuesday August 18, 2026, about 02:45hrs at a religious organisation located on Woolford Avenue, Georgetown, committed on a 63-year-old security guard.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the security guard was conducting checks around the compound when he was confronted by four masked males, one of whom was reportedly armed with a knife, while another was armed with a crowbar.

During the incident, the security guard was restrained and relieved of his cellular phone. One of the suspects remained with him while the other three proceeded towards the building.

Further investigations revealed that entry was gained into the building through a window on the western side. The lower flat of the building was subsequently found ransacked and an undisclosed amount of cash was reported stolen.

The suspects subsequently escaped from the compound.

CCTV footage was obtained and is being reviewed as part of the investigation.

Investigations are continuing.
