Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony, today handed over three vehicles to Regions Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) and 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) as part of the ministry’s continued efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve access to essential health services across the country.
Region Nine received two vehicles, while Region 10 received one. The vehicles will support the respective Regional Health Services in carrying out critical health-related activities, including the transportation of healthcare workers, medical supplies and equipment, as well as facilitating outreach activities and access to communities.
During the handover, Minister Anthony emphasised the importance of ensuring that health teams, particularly those serving hinterland and remote communities, are equipped with the necessary resources to effectively carry out their duties.
The addition of the vehicles will enhance the Regions’ capacity to respond to the healthcare needs of residents while improving the efficiency and reach of health services.
The Ministry of Health continues to invest in strengthening the country’s health infrastructure, transportation capacity and human resources as part of its commitment to delivering accessible, reliable and quality healthcare to all Guyanese.
