Two houses were destroyed in separate fires across Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica), according to the Guyana Fire Service.
This morning, firefighters responded to a blaze at Lot 87 Farm, East Bank Demerara.
Water Tender #127 from the Diamond Fire Station and Water Carrier #20 from the Eccles Fire Station, along with their respective crews, were dispatched to the location.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed a two-storey concrete building engulfed in flames, with the fire concentrated on the upper floor.

Through swift and coordinated firefighting efforts, firefighters brought the blaze under control, contained it to the upper floor of the building, and prevented it from spreading to a nearby structure.
The fire was subsequently extinguished, and crews conducted the necessary mopping-up operations to ensure there were no remaining hotspots.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, hours earlier, firefighters also battled another fire at Lot 51 South Vryheid’s Lust on the East Coast of Demerara.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed a wooden building fully engulfed in flames, with the fire threatening a nearby structure.
Through swift and coordinated firefighting efforts, the blaze was brought under control and prevented from spreading to the nearby building.
Unfortunately, the building and its contents were completely destroyed. A motor car and a motorcycle were also destroyed as a result of the fire.
