Two leading Guyanese entrepreneurs have received international recognition at the prestigious BizX 2025 Awards, held in Houston, Texas, USA.

Pritipaul Singh Jr., Managing Director of Guyana Port Inc., won the Entrepreneur of the Year Award, while Candace Wickham, Founder and CEO of Procare Therapy and Wellness Centre, was named Female Entrepreneur of the Year.

Under the leadership of Pritipaul Singh Jr., Guyana Port Inc. has rapidly become a major force in Guyana’s maritime sector. The company already provides ship repair, shipbuilding, and dredging services, all critical to supporting the nation’s expanding offshore and shipping industries. With continued investment and innovation, GPI is poised to further scale these capabilities to meet Guyana’s growing maritime needs and strengthen its role in regional trade and development.

Procare Therapy and Wellness Centre, founded by Candace Wickham in 2015, is a leading private therapy and wellness facility in Georgetown focused on early intervention for children, including speech-language therapy, occupational and physical therapy, and massage modalities. It has supported dozens of children with special needs and recently validated its service-offerings with Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ)-certified programmes.

Both companies are coached by ActionCOACH Guyana.

“I’m incredibly proud to see Pritipaul Singh Jr. win the Entrepreneur of the Year award, the highest honour at BizX 2025 in Houston, Texas. His relentless drive to improve and his bold vision for Guyana Port Inc. continue to set new standards for excellence in the maritime sector. This achievement reflects his success and amplifies the transformative impact he is creating for Guyana’s growth and global competitiveness. For more than a decade, ActionCOACH Guyana has been elevating the standards at which the nation’s leading companies operate, and this milestone stands as another powerful example of that mission in action,” said Dr. Vishnu Doerga, Chairman of Action COACH.

Accepting his award, Pritipaul Singh Jr. credited faith, family, and teamwork as the driving forces behind his company’s success.

“I live by a quote from Jim Rohn: ‘Success is not something you pursue; it’s something you attract by the person you become.’ Tonight is about faith, purpose, perseverance, and the discipline to keep moving forward. I give it all to God for the opportunities and blessings that have brought me here.”

In an emotional acceptance speech, Candace Wickham reflected on her journey from humble beginnings to building one of Guyana’s most impactful therapy centres.

“As a special language therapist, I wanted to make a greater impact in the lives of children and families. I was born on December 3rd—International Day of Persons with Disabilities—and I truly believe I’m living my divine purpose,” she said.

“Today, Procare Therapy and Wellness Centre supports more than 67 children, helping many go from being unable to speak or walk to achieving incredible milestones.”

Her coach, Coach Keon, praised her commitment, saying: “From vision to victory! Candace’s discipline and ownership made this BizX win inevitable. Thrilled to be her Coach.”
