President and Former General Secretary of the PPP, Donald Ramotar has confirmed to the media that he issued a cautionary letter against campaigning and other tactics at the last PPP Congress.

At a press conference today, Monday August 19, Ramotar said that this was done to prevent any form of campaigning for and other tactics for the position of a member of the Central Committee of the PPP.

The PPP Congress was held on August 2-4 in Berbice and saw the election of a new 35-member Central Committee.

The letter by Ramotar warned against attempts by “some comrades” to lobby against certain candidates to the Central Committee elections including former President Bharrat Jagdeo.
