Policeman remanded for murder of Cuban woman

Randy Thomas, a 20-year-old Policeman of Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, was charged with the offence of Murder, contrary to common law.

The charge relates to the murder of Dailen Paneque Gomes, a 26-year-old Cuban national of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, which occurred between June 18 and June 24, 2026, at Enmore South, East Coast Demerara.

Thomas appeared on Monday June 29, 2026, before His Worship Magistrate Teriq Mohamed at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him.

He was not required to plead and was remanded to prison.

The matter was adjourned to July 21, 2026.
