One Communications marks World Environment Month with Kingston Seawall cleanup

Demonstrating that meaningful change begins with individual action, employees of One Communications came together on Saturday, June 27, to participate in a community cleanup exercise along the Kingston Seawall, adjacent to the company’s corporate offices.

Approximately 15 employees volunteered their time to remove litter and debris from the area as part of the company’s observance of World Environment Month and its ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and community responsibility.

The initiative, held under the theme “The Great Outdoors: Climate Action Starts Here,” reflects One Communications’ belief that protecting the environment requires collective action and that businesses have an important role to play in creating cleaner, healthier communities.

Chief Executive Officer, Abraham Smith, who participated in the cleanup alongside employees, encouraged the team to recognise the impact of small acts of service.

“It’s easy to think that one person can’t make a difference, but when we come together as one team with one purpose, we can make a meaningful impact in our communities. In just one hour, we transformed this space, proving that collective action really does matter.”

The exercise also served as a reminder that climate action extends beyond global discussions and national policies. It is reflected in the everyday choices individuals and organisations make to care for the environment and the communities they serve.

One Communications expressed its appreciation to the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development for supporting the initiative through the provision of cleanup materials and logistical assistance, helping to ensure the success of the exercise.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote environmental sustainability, community engagement, and responsible corporate citizenship, noting that building stronger communities goes hand in hand with connecting them.
