Police are investigating the discovery of a firearm and ammunition which were found on Saturday August 8, 2026 about 00:30hrs, during an intelligence-led operation at Kwakwani Park, Airstrip, Upper Berbice River.
Preliminary investigations revealed that ranks, acting on information received, proceeded to an unfinished and unoccupied concrete structure, where a search was conducted.
During the search, a black plastic bag containing one silver Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol fitted with a magazine containing one live 9mm round of ammunition, was found.
The firearm, magazine and ammunition were escorted to the Kwakwani Police Station, where they were lodged pending examination.
No arrest was made. Investigations continue.
