More than 300 residents of Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice) are now closer to owning a home following a house lot allocation exercise conducted by the Ministry of Housing’s Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) at its Regional Housing Office.
The exercise, held on Thursday (August 7, 2026) was part of the government’s ongoing efforts to meet the housing needs of families across the region, and was a follow-up to a commitment made by Vice President Dr Bharrat Jagdeo.
Among the beneficiaries were applicants who were unable to secure allocations during the Ministry’s recent ‘Dream Realised’ Housing Drive held at the Rosignol Stelling Tarmac. Thursday’s event therefore offered another opportunity for these applicants to progress towards homeownership.
Residential lots across the low, moderate, and middle-income categories were allocated in Track A, Waterloo, and Track C, Experiment, ensuring families from various income brackets were included.
The exercise was led by Director of Operations at CH&PA, Mrs. Denise King-Tudor; Operations Manager, Ms. Gaitree Ramawad; and Regional Housing Officer, Mrs. Arianne Barratt-Rodrigues, supported by agency staff.
Throughout the process, beneficiaries were guided on the allocation procedure and provided with essential information on the next steps to complete their transactions.
For over 300 beneficiaries, these allocations mean more than just access to land; they lay the foundation for families to establish permanent homes, increase security, and create lasting assets for future generations.
