Following is a message from the Office of the Leader of the Opposition on the passing of Bishop Randolph George:
The Office of the Leader of the Opposition is saddened by the news of the passing of Bishop Randolph George. Bishop George was one of the first Guyanese to lead a major Christian denomination in Guyana.
As a Leader of the Christian clergy, Guyana will remember and cherish his role in the Guyana Council of Churches and subsequent involvement in the Caribbean Conference of Churches in the fight to restore democracy and in protection and defence of human rights in Guyana during the final days of the PNC dictatorship.
The Office of the Leader of the Opposition extends its condolences to the immediate family, relatives and friends of Bishop George.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
