New REOs officially assume office across Guyana

Newly appointed Regional Executive Officers (REOs) have officially assumed office in Regions One through Eight and Region Ten, ushering in a new phase of regional administration and public service delivery across Guyana.

The officers who assumed office are:

-Dr. Steven Cheefoon: Region One
-Mr. Deolall Rooplall: Region Two
-Mr. Surendra Khayyam: Region Three
-Mr. Juan Edghill Jr.: Region Four
-Ms. Mary Samaroo: Region Five
-Mr. Ronald Harsaywack: Region Six
-Dr. Josh Kanhai: Region Seven
-Mr. Marti DeSouza: Region Eight
-Dr. Gregory Harris: Region Ten

The Government also confirmed that Mr. Karl Singh continues to serve as Regional Executive Officer for Region Nine.

Regional Executive Officers are tasked with overseeing the day-to-day administration and management of the Regional Democratic Councils (RDCs), ensuring the effective implementation of government policies and programmes, and supporting the continued development of communities throughout the country.

In assuming office, the officers are expected to work closely with regional administrations, local democratic organs, technical staff, and community stakeholders to strengthen governance, improve accountability, and enhance the delivery of essential public services to citizens.

According to the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, the appointments come at a time when the Government continues to advance significant investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, public works, and community development across all administrative regions. The REOs will play a pivotal role in coordinating and monitoring these initiatives to ensure that development reaches communities efficiently and effectively.

President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali expressed confidence in the capabilities and leadership of the officers and underscored the importance of professionalism, transparency, and responsiveness in the execution of their duties.

The newly appointed officers were congratulated and extended best wishes as they undertake their responsibilities in service to the people and development of Guyana.
