Miner nabbed with 2kg of marijuana

A miner is expected to face the Courts soon to answer to the charge of having narcotics in his possession after being caught with two kilograms of marijuana in the vicinity of the Ekereku Airstrip, Region Seven.

According to reports, this discovery was made when police ranks conducted a search on the man. They found a quantity of seeds, leaves and stems in a haversack he was carrying at the time. He was subsequently arrested and is currently assisting with investigations.

This narcotics find comes on the heels of the police arresting three men during a road block exercise with over five kilograms of cannabis at Fort Wellington, West Coast Berbice.

It was reported that the police intercepted a vehicle when five kilograms, 390 grams of marijuana were found in several bags. The three men who were in the car were then taken into police custody and subsequently charged for possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
