Police are investigating an alleged Robbery Under Arms committed on Carlos Conyern, a 24-year-old chef of Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, who received a gunshot injury during the robbery which occurred at about 03:30hrs yesterday morning (Tuesday).

Conyern was reportedly robbed by two masked suspects, one of whom was armed with a handgun. He was relieved of two Samsung cellphones valued at G$85,000 and  G$35,000.

Enquiries disclosed that the victim was confronted in his bed by the suspects, who gained entry into the upper flat of the building via a window at the southern side. The suspects then asked him where the money was, and the man, who became afraid, started to shout ‘thief’. This led the armed suspect to discharge a round in the direction of the victim, hitting him in his lower abdomen.

The suspects picked up the two cell phones and escaped through the window in an unknown direction.

The 24-year-old man was subsequently escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he received medical attention. His condition is stable.

One .32 spent shell was recovered at the scene.

Further investigations are in progress.
