Investigations are being conducted by the Police into a fatal accident that occurred about 21:35 hrs last night on Homestretch Avenue, Georgetown, and which resulted in the death of a so far unidentified man of African descent.
The Guyana Police Force said its investigations so far have revealed that the victim was crossing the roadway when he was struck down by a motor vehicle, the driver of which sped away from the scene.
However, valuable information provided by a female motorist who was driving along the road at the time led to the subsequent arrest of the driver. He is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
The Guyana Police Force, in a statement, expressed its appreciation of the cooperation of the citizen which led to a quick arrest in this matter.
