Ranks from the Mabaruma Police Station conducted a roadblock exercise in the Mabaruma compound, North West District (NWD), on Thursday during which they intercepted a black Toyota Fielder Wagon which was at the time being driven by a 25-year-old taxi driver from Hosororo Hill.
With him were a 24-year-old male and 38-year-old Alexton Saul. The police informed the occupants about the search for illegal items, and upon noticing suspicious behaviour, they were instructed to exit the vehicle.
Police requested to search the driver and occupants, during which a quantity of cannabis was discovered in Saul’s crotch. He was arrested and taken, along with the narcotics, to the Mabaruma Police Station, where the substance was weighed and amounted to 120 grams.
The suspect remains in custody pending charges.
