Logger fatally struck by falling tree branch at Mabura

Police in Regional Division 10 are investigating a fatal workplace incident that occurred on Saturday at a logging concession located at 43 Miles, Mabura Road, Upper Demerara River. Dead is 63-year-old Chris Hall, known as “Chatch,” a logger and skidder operator of Grant Sand Road, Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara.According to initial investigations, Hall was working in the concession when he was struck by a falling tree branch. He became motionless, and the incident was subsequently reported to the police. Ranks later visited the scene. Hall was transported to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was examined and pronounced dead by a doctor on duty. His body was later taken to the Pensioners Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted. Investigations are ongoing.
