Police in Regional Division 4‘B’ are investigating the murder of 48-year-old Derick Sylvester Prostea, of Back Street, Kaneville, East Bank Demerara, which occurred last night (Wednesday, May 7th, 2025).
Prostea was allegedly murdered by a 25-year-old man of Ally Street, Kaneville, East Bank Demerara at about 18:45hrs at Grove Public Road.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and victim had a misunderstanding which escalated and he was stabbed to his right-side shoulder and collapsed.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Diamond Hospital, where an official pronouncement of death was given by a doctor.
Police ranks, acting on information received, swiftly apprehended a suspect at Kaneville.
He remains in custody assisting with ongoing investigation.
