[www.inewsguyana.com]In light of the increased pressure from the Alliance for Change (AFC), the government has decided to establish the Public Procurement Commission (PPC).

Government officials confirmed on Wednesday, October 30 that an amendment to the Public Procurement Act will be tabled at the next sitting of Parliament.

Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon told a news conference that subsequent to the tabling of the Amendment, government will then identify its nominees for parliamentary consideration to sit on the Public Procurement Commission.

The minority political party – The Alliance for Change (AFC) – is on record urging the government to establish this PPC and only then will the AFC support the Anti – Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism Amendment Bill.
