A seamstress made her first court appearance today charged with assault and damage to property.
Thirty – One – year old Maria Paul of 35 John Street Lodge pleaded guilty to both charges when they were read to her.
The court was told that on August 08 at John Street, the woman assaulted her husband Taijpaul Gheer and in the process damaged one car trunk valued at $40,000 and one jersey valued at $5,000.
Meanwhile, Taijpaul Gheer was also charged with assault which he committed against his wife Maria Paul. Gheer also pleaded guilty. However, both parties did not proceed with the matter noting that they have agreed to drop the charges against each other.
The Magistrate dismissed the cases and bonded the couple to keep the peace. [Royan Abrams]
