Haitians fined for illegal entry

Four Haitians appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on charges of illegal entry.
deportedFitzco Julian, Amnerfer Chriskey, Jim Richmore and Desmond Kendy, all pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Springlands, Corentyne, they entered Guyana by sea and disembarked without the consent of an immigration officer.
A French translator was present in the court and assisted with the communication between the Magistrate and the French-speaking defendants.
They were each fined $30,000, with an alternative of six months’ imprisonment if they fail to pay the fine. They will be deported after paying the fine or serving their sentences.
