Two Guyanese artistes will be given what President Dr Irfaan Ali has described as “an opportunity of a lifetime,” to collaborate with Jamaican dancehall sensation Vybz Kartel also known as ‘World Boss’ or ‘De Teacha’.

The announcement was made by the musician at State House on Friday, as President Ali facilitated a meeting between the visiting artiste and several Guyanese artistes.

After listening to the commendations from the Guyanese performers, answering their questions and listening to snippets of their songs, the ‘World Boss’ said, “Vybz Kartel will be coming back to Guyana before the show [an upcoming concert] and we do a showcase with just the artistes here and two things are going to come out from that, two collaborations; one with me and a man and one with me and a woman.”

Kartel will be returning to Guyana for the BADERATION Concert on May 24, 2025.

The Jamaican musician added that this will not just be for a stage performance but “we have to record a song, do a music video, push it,” as he pointed to the need to “spread the love” further than Jamaica.

This announcement was met with loud applause from the local artistes whom the President urged to begin preparation for the upcoming auction.

“Guys, you have to get to work now, get serious because we’ll have the audition here. You’ll have your opportunity of a lifetime to share the stage with Vybz, with all the international spotlight will be on you but you have to get serious and sharpen up,” the President noted.

The Head of State told those gathered at State House that while they will not be competing with each other, they need to work towards winning that much anticipated collaboration.

During his interaction with the Guyanese artistes, Kartel addressed a number of issues raised and advised the young artistes on how to promote their music, write songs and address social issues through music.
