Guyana and Suriname strengthen ties

[www.inewsguyana.com] – President of Guyana, David Granger on Wednesday, August 12 held discussions with his counterpart, Desi Bouterse, President of the Republic of Suriname.

President Granger was in Suriname to attend President Bouterse’s official inauguration. His meeting with the Surinamese Head of State took place at the Presidential Palace, after the Inauguration Ceremony.

The two Presidents used the opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to closer ties. They also identified a number of areas for closer cooperation and pledged to continue to build on the existing and long-standing ties between the two republics.

President Granger was accompanied to the meeting by Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Carl Greenidge and Guyana’s Ambassador to Suriname, Mr. Keith George. [GINA]
