The Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Tuesday held a handing-over ceremony at the Tactical Services Unit, Drill Square, where the organisation received a major boost to its mobility fleet with the aquisition of 21 brand-new 2025 Toyota Hilux Double Cab pickup vehicles and 20 Honda XR 150 motorcycles.

The vehicles were bought by the Government of Guyana, through the Ministry of Home Affairs, from Queensway Security Services Inc. and Marics & Company Limited, respectively.

The simple handing over was attended by the Commissioner of Police Mr. Clifton Hicken, Deputy Commissioner ‘Administration’ Mr. Ravindradat Budhram, and Deputy Commissioner ‘Operations’ Mr. Errol Watts, alongside senior officers and ranks.

The new vehicles and motorcycles will strengthen the Force’s ability to respond swiftly to crime, improve patrol coverage, and expand its overall fleet management capacity.

Delivering remarks, Deputy Commissioner ‘Operations’ Mr. Watts welcomed the support and underscored its impact.

“I’m extremely happy as Deputy Commissioner Operations to be receiving 21 brand new 2025 Double Cab Toyota Hilux and 20 XR 150 motorcycles, which will add to our fleet management capability both on land in terms of our response time in terms of crime and most importantly, our preparation for General and Regional Elections, which is slated for September 1st,” he noted.

He also added that the two sets of transports would aid the Force tremendously in carrying out its constitutional mandate during the General and Regional Elections. Indicating that they will also remain a critical resource in supporting patrols, and strengthening public safety, to name a few.

Top Cop Mr. Clifton Hicken, in his address, extended gratitude on behalf of the GPF.

He noted that the vehicles and motorcycles will not only improve operational readiness but also demonstrate the importance of partnership between the private sector and law enforcement.

These resources will go a long way in boosting service to members of the public, the Top Cop stated.
