[www.inewsguyana.com]The Guyana government is not sure if it will voluntarily compensate raped prisoner – Colwyn Harding – who was brutally sodomized, allegedly by Police Constable Singh of the Timehri Police Station in November 2013.

When questioned about the issue at his post cabinet media briefing on Thursday, January 16, Cabinet Secretary Dr. Roger Luncheon told reporters that as far as he is aware, Harding is seeking redress in the Court by suing the Guyana Police Force for $100M.

It is alleged that the Police Officer forced a condom laden baton up Harding’s anus while he was in police custody in November 15, 2013. Harding is now in hospital awaiting a third surgical operation to treat the injuries he suffered. His intensities were ruptured.

When questioned further on the issue, Dr. Luncheon said that this form of allegation leveled against the Police Force is different from others, since this one is of a sexual nature.

However, Dr. Luncheon is unsure as to whether the Police Officer committed the act for pleasure or to extract information from Harding, who was arrested for Larceny.
