Students of the Para Area in the Moruca sub-district, Region One, will now benefit from reliable transportation following the handover of a brand-new bus to the community.
The bus was funded through the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs, in fulfillment of a request made by the community.
I emphasized the importance of maintaining public assets for the continued benefit of residents and that the government remains committed to the continued development of the Moruca sub-district, while highlighting ongoing initiatives aimed at improving health, education, and other key sectors.
Regional Vice-Chairman Paul Pierre noted that the regional administration is focused on ensuring that development is effectively streamlined over the next five years. He indicated that the administration is actively working on Budget 2026 proposals to advance this objective.

Head Teacher of the Waramuri Secondary School, Monette Williams, welcomed the initiative, stating that the new vehicle will significantly ease transportation challenges for students.
“It can help alleviate the problems of transportation in terms of children moving from one area to another,” she said. The head teacher continued, “having the bus now, the children will be in a much better condition so that they can travel there and go to school every day.”
Williams further noted that the bus will serve students at all levels—nursery, primary, and secondary.
Senior Councillor, Kester Fredericks, also expressed appreciation for the vehicle, stating that it will bring great relief to the community. “[It] will truly help the school children in a lot of ways. Now the weather is very unpredictable, sometimes sun, sometimes rain, and surely it will assist them in that way,” he said.
As part of the interactive meeting, residents were also given the opportunity to raise issues and share concerns affecting their community, which Minister Croal documented for follow-up action by the relevant authorities.
