Gold Miner charged for allegedly choking woman

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 30 – year – old Gold Miner was today placed on $150,000 bail by Magistrate Judy Latchman for assaulting a woman.

Brian Rodrigues of Alexander Village, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on August 31, 2014 in Mahdia, he choked a woman causing her towel to drop from her body.

Representing the defendant was Attorney – at – Law, Adrian Thompson, who informed the Court that his client is a father of two and is not a flight risk.

Thompson told the court that the virtual complainant (VC) and defendant are working at the same place and on the day in question they were bathing at the creek where the incident took place.

Bail was granted and he was ordered to report every Friday at the Mahdia Police Station. He will make his next court appearance before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry tomorrow.
