GFS investigating fire at East Street beauty salon

The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) today promptly responded to a fire at the BV by Victoria Beauty Salon on East Street, Georgetown.

The building, owned by Mr. Nitin Mehra, an Indian national, serves both commercial and residential purposes. The top floor is operated as a salon and spa, while the middle floor is occupied as a private residence by Chinese nationals.

“Thanks to the rapid and effective response of the GFS, firefighters were able to contain and extinguish the blaze, which was primarily concentrated on the upper floor of the structure. Their swift actions prevented the fire from spreading further and minimised potential damage to the lower levels of the building,” the GFS said in a statement.

An official investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.
