The Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce on Monday concluded its 2026 Community Business Clinic programme with its eighth and final clinic held in Pakuri, St. Cuthbert’s Mission, Region Four.

The Ministry overhauled and expanded the clinics to bring together a wider range of essential agencies providing business support services, allowing entrepreneurs and prospective business owners to access more comprehensive assistance in one place.

Residents benefited from practical training and one-on-one engagements with representatives from the GRA, NIS, Deeds and Commercial Registries Authority, Local Content Secretariat, as well as the Guyana National Bureau of Standards, Small Business Bureau, Competition and Consumer Affairs Commission and Guyana Tourism Authority.

Participants received guidance on business registration, taxation, compliance, financing, standards, tourism opportunities and business development.

Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Susan Rodrigues, said the expanded clinics are designed to bring essential government services directly to communities, reducing the cost and inconvenience of travelling to Georgetown to access support.

She also highlighted opportunities for community-based tourism, particularly through cultural experiences, local cuisine, guiding and other services, while encouraging entrepreneurs to explore financing opportunities through the Guyana Development Bank, including interest-free, collateral-free financing of up to $3 million for eligible businesses.

Deputy Toshao Leroy Gonputh welcomed the initiative and encouraged residents to make full use of the services provided.

The 2026 programme has reached in excess of 700 participants and businesses nationwide.

The Ministry remains committed to taking business support directly to communities and creating greater opportunities for entrepreneurship, growth and economic participation.
