Georgetown man remanded after busted with over 1.2kg ganja

Jamol Johnson was remanded to prison on Friday after some 1.2 kilograms of marijuana was found at his East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, residence last week.

Johnson appeared before Magistrate FaithMcGusty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, where he pled not guilty to the offense of possession of 1.278 kilograms of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

He was refused bail and remanded to prison.

The narcotics found at the East Ruimveldt residence

Based on reports, officers from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) on Tuesday (April 8, 2025), acting on information received, conducted an operation at the Lot 422 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, residence.

During a search of the premises, a quantity of cannabis, which weighed 1.278 kilograms, and one (1) black CANiK 9mm pistol with serial number T6472-20CC-02763 and a magazine containing six (6) live rounds were discovered.

Johnson was arrested and escorted to CANU’s Headquarters and following investigations, he was charged and placed before the courts.
