Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha is currently meeting with rice farmers from Mahaica.
During the meeting, he disclosed that rice farmers will be paid a minimum of $4,000 for a bag of paddy.
Minister Mustapha explained that President Dr. Irfaan Ali has been engaging millers for several weeks to determine an appropriate price for paddy for this crop.
“We had a meeting earlier today with the millers and we were able to come to an agreement. We have a signed agreement with the millers. So, you will be getting a minimum of $4,000 per bag of paddy,” Mustapha said.
