The Aviation Operators’ Association of Guyana (AOAG) announced today that the cost of fuel used by domestic passenger and cargo aircraft has risen significantly and as a result, airfares will increase.

“The Aviation Operators’ Association of Guyana (AOAG) has just been advised that the price for Avjet and Avgas, the fuel used by aircraft employed for passenger and freight service by all of the domestic aircraft operators, have increased substantially and will, regrettably, result in the increase of airfares to customers,” the brief statement outlines.

This move will impact travel to and from hinterland locations as well as the transport of cargo to those communities.

Only recently, domestic airlines had reduced their airfares in keeping with a call by President Dr Irfaan Ali to make local travel more affordable.
