Distribution of $55,000 cash grant for students to begin on May 12 – Manickchand

Minister of Education Priya Manickchand has announced that the distribution of the $55,000 per student cash grant will begin on May 12.

She made the announcement at the commissioning of the Practical Instruction Centre at Hopetown in Region Five.

The ‘Because We Care’ cash grant which is available to each private and public-school student annually, was this year increased to $50,000 from $40,000.

In addition, the uniform voucher allowance of $5000 will continue to be paid. This means each schoolchild will now get $55,000 each. This year, approximately 205,000 students will benefit.
