– suspect arrested, murder weapon handed over to police
At approximately 9:30hrs today, a mother of two who resides in Belvedere, Corentyne, Berbice was allegedly decapitated by her neighbour in front of her two-year-old child.
Reports indicate that the woman’s head was almost severed from her body after she was brutally chopped by her neighbour.
INews understands that the deceased is 53-year-old Bhumattie Deolall.
The Guyana Police Force, in a statement, said the woman’s 39-year-old neighbour, a labourer, was arrested for the brutal murder.
The Police Force said its investigations so far have revealed that the victim, Bhumattie Deolall, of 351 fifth Street South Belvedere, Corentyne, was standing in her yard, when the suspect armed with a cutlass, approached and dealt her several chops to her neck, almost severing same. The man then left and went home where he was promptly arrested by investigators, to whom he handed over the alleged murder weapon.
The body is presently at the New Amsterdam Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination later today.
