According to reports, Jainarine was pronounced dead at the Skeldon Hospital.

The Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) employer was constructing a dam when he was attacked. Jainarine and a partner were more than one mile in the Backdam.

Details of what transpired are still sketchy; however, INews understands that when Jainarine came under attack his partner hid beneath a clump of bushes and later heard Jainarine groaning.

When help finally arrived, the man was discovered dead some meters from the tractor.

Meanwhile, in a statement following the incident, GuySuCo confirmed that at approximately 12:25h on Monday, two tractor operators were harrowing a section of the cross-dam in the Skeldon Estate cultivation when a swarm of bees attacked them.  Jainarine was later found in an unconscious state but was rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The other employee was admitted for observation but later released.

Jainarine has been working with the Corporation for 25 years.

GuySuCo extended its deepest condolences to the family.
