Three young men lost their lives on Tuesday in a horrific two-vehicle collision along the Maida/Farm Public Road, Corentyne, Region Six (East Berbice Corentyne).
Dead are 19-year-old Ameer Khan of John Village, Port Mourant; 23-year-old Priyas Mursalin of Chesney Front; and 16-year-old Porshatam Hoolasia of Haswell, Port Mourant and a former student of JC Chandisingh Secondary School.

Based on reports received, the trio was travelling in motor car PLL 4312 when it collided with a Toyota Harrier.
According to information gathered, the speeding motor car was attempting to overtake another vehicle but ended up in the path of a Toyota Harrier which was travelling in the opposite direction.

Due to the impact, the motor car slammed into a utility pole.
Khan and Mursalin were the first to be pulled from the wreckage while Hoolasia was left pinned inside.
They were taken to the Port Mourant Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries while receiving medical attention.
The 16-year-old reportedly died at the accident scene.

In addition, the driver of the other vehicle, 44-year-old Ramesh Aravanan of Miss Phoebe, Corentyne, sustained injuries and was treated and later handed over to the police.
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
