Two teenagers are among three persons who remain in critical condition following an accident on Friday evening along the Number 62 Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice, which has already claimed the life of 16-year-old Jodea Seline.
The critically injured persons are a 31-year-old driver, a 13-year-old girl from Brighton Village, and a 16-year-old girl from Cromarty Village. They were admitted as patients at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Police stated that a minibus bearing registration number BAB 7570, which was at the time being driven by a 31-year-old teacher, was proceeding along the roadway with several passengers when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to topple onto its right side.
As a result, the driver and seventeen passengers, including teachers and students, sustained injuries. They were taken to the Number 75 Regional Hospital, where Seline was pronounced dead.
The remaining passengers were admitted to the Number 75 Regional Hospital under observation in stable condition, while the three critically injured passengers were transferred to Georgetown. An investigation is underway.
