Contracts signed for over $1.5B in infrastructure works for Reg. 8

The Ministry of Public Works today signed 110 contracts with contractors from Region 8 for critical road, bridge, and concrete road projects in Mahdia, Campbelltown, Brian Sucre Junction, Murwa, and Konawaruk.

These contracts represent a major investment — approximately $1.5 billion — to improve infrastructure and enhance connectivity across the region.

Minister of Public Works,Bishop Juan Edghill, who was accompanied by Minister of Amerindian Affairs, Pauline Sukhai addressed the contractors, emphasising the importance of delivering high-quality work and staying committed to timelines. Mr. Jeffrey Walcott, Hinterland Engineer at the Ministry, was also in attendance.

During the visit, the Minister also inspected roads that were recently completed and others that are expected to be completed shortly, reinforcing Government’s commitment to transformative development in hinterland communities.
