
The Guyana Police Force is preparing to seek legal advice on the way forward with the case involving Opposition Member of Parliament Natasha Singh, who is being investigated for possession of firearm and ammunition.
Police had said a Glock 19 9mm pistol with 13 rounds of ammunition, registered to another Opposition parliamentarian Dawn Hastings-Williams, were found in a vehicle in which MP Singh and her husband were in.
The couple was detained on Wednesday but while Singh was released on $200,000 station bail that same day, her husband remains in custody, according to police today.

𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘|| 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗢 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗢𝗙 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗠 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗔𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
The Guyana Police Force is continuing its investigation into the discovery of a firearm and ammunition.
At about 09:00 hrs on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, investigators contacted Natasha Singh and informed her of the alleged offence of Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition without a Licence. She was cautioned and, acting on the advice of her attorney, provided a written statement.
Later that morning, at about 10:58 hrs, investigators contacted Shane Fordyce and informed him of the same alleged offence. He was cautioned and also provided a written statement after consulting with his attorney.
As part of the investigation, Dawn Hastings-Williams was interviewed at Regional Police Division 4 ‘B’ Headquarters, where she provided a statement and handed over a copy of Firearm Licence No. 191501, dated February 16, 2026, for a Glock 19 9mm pistol bearing serial number BBVD168.
The firearm, magazine and ammunition were subsequently taken to the Ballistics Section at Eve Leary, where they were lodged for safekeeping.
Natasha Singh was released on $200,000 cash bail, while Shane Fordyce remains in Police custody. The motor car involved in the investigation also remains lodged.
A case file is being prepared for legal advice.
