Case against alleged robber thrown out of Court after VC refuses to give evidence

[www.inewsguyana.com]The robbery charge against Oriley Small was dismissed after the virtual complainant (VC) refused to provide evidence in the case.

The complainant, Hoosay Barker of Russell Street Charlestown informed Magistrate Judy Latchman on Tuesday, December 3 that he no longer wants to continue with the matter.

The accused made his first appearance in court on November 8 to answer the charge which alleged that on October 4 at Georgetown, he robbed Barker of one gold chain and a blackberry cellular phone together valued $655,000.

Small was on remand for the offence.

The complainant was ordered to pay a court fine of $50,000 with an alternative of 14 days imprisonment for wasting the time of investigating ranks and that of the Court.
