Police are investigating an incident which occurred on Wednesday April 15, 2026 about 19:10hrs, at Atlantic Gardens, East Coast Demerara, during which Radish Domingo, a 46-year-old carpenter of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, died, and seven other men were injured.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased and injured men were employees engaged in construction work on a two-storey concrete structure situated on the property. At the time of the incident, they were reportedly in the process of completing work on the roof area when the structure collapsed, resulting in the men receiving injuries.
The Police and Guyana Fire Service were summoned and emergency response personnel assisted in escorting the injured men to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation and Sheriff Medical Hospital for medical attention.
The deceased was seen pinned under debris and was later removed from the scene and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty. His body was subsequently identified by a female relative and later escorted to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
CCTV cameras were observed and will be reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
