CANU finds $18.4M in ganja during Canje operation

The Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) on Wednesday discovered a quantity of cannabis during an operation at Palmyra Village, Canje, Berbice.

Based on reports received, the officers conducted a search in the vicinity of a koker at Palmyra Village, Canje during which eight parcels of cannabis were found hidden in a clump of bushes.

The cannabis was retrieved and taken to CANU’s Skeldon Office where it was weighed and amounted to 61.2 kilograms (approximately 134.9 lbs) with a street value of $18.4 million. At the time of the interception, no one was arrested.

Investigations are continuing.
