Cane harvesters struck by lightning

Six cane harvesters of Blairmont Estate, Berbice were struck by lightning today, during the heavy downpour of rain.

Industrial Relations Director of the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GUYSUCO), Jairam Pitan told iNews that of the six workers who were struck, five of them are under observation at the Fort Wellington Hospital, while the other one is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The men were working in the fields at the time of the incident.
