A 63-year-old minibus driver, Felix Thorman, was killed on Saturday night after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a utility pole on the Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
The accident occurred at about 23:38 hours on the Columbia Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
At the time, Thorman, a resident of Lot 187 Dartmouth, Essequibo Coast, was driving minibus #PRR 2323, proceeding North on the western driving lane of the Columbia Public Road, reportedly at a fast rate of speed, when he lost control and collided with the utility pole on the eastern parapet.
The driver was taken out of his vehicle in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens, and taken to the Lima Regional Public Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and pronounced dead on arrival.
