Geewanram Girdharry, 59, of Bee Hive, Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara (ECD) lost his life on Tuesday in a car crash.
The man reportedly lost control of the motorcar he was driving and landed in a nearby trench along the Bee Hive Public Road, ECD; the accident occurred at around 17:30h.
Police stated that on the day in question, the now dead man, who was driving motorcar, PAC 9952 was proceeding along the Bee Hive Access Road and upon approaching the bridge, he overtook another car, PMM 2628, hitting off the side mirror in the process.
As a result, Girdharry reportedly swerved and lost control of his vehicle, which ended up a trench. The vehicle along with the driver subsequently submerged under water.
The injured man was pulled from submerged vehicle and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A breathalyzer test conduct on the driver of the other motorcar proved that he had no alcohol in his system.
Investigations are ongoing.
