Months after being on the run, Police have arrested the driver who allegedly struck down a Berbice family on their electric bike and fled the scene back in March this year.
That accident resulted in the death of nine-month-old Eli Surujnarine. Her teenage parents were also injured in the accident and the mother, 19-year-old Kavita Bedsan had succumbed to her injuries a few days after.
An intelligence-led operation headed by a senior officer in Springlands Police Station district between 18:00hrs and 18:30hrs yesterday at Line Path, Corentyne Berbice resulted in the apprehension of Avinash Naidoo, a 32-year-old Corentyne resident who was involved in a ‘causing death by dangerous driving’ incident which occurred on 2025-03-02 at Line Path, Corentyne Berbice.
Naidoo was escorted to the Springlands Police Station, pending further investigation.
