33 charged for traffic offences as road safety campaign begins in Berbice

Some 33 persons have been charged for various traffic violations as police in New Amsterdam, Berbice launch Operation Safe Road as part of Road Safety Month 2020.

Among those charged were seven drivers for having tint on their motor vehicles and 10 persons for failing to wear a seat belt.

The campaign also saw three persons being arrested for poor maintenance of their tyre, and eight for having obscure number plates.

Persons were also charged for careless driving, stopping within 30 feet of a corner, and causing obstruction.

In addition, one driver was charged for breach of restriction on domestic travel amid Covid-19.

Also, there was one driver who was found to be unlicensed and he too was charged.
